ABOUT WORLD LANGUAGES AND LITERATURES
The Departement of World Languages and Literatures is home to a consistent and rotating selection of language programs alongside its World Literature degree options. Undergraduate students are drawn to our courses because they hold a desire to understand the world from different perspectives. Our World Literature program examines a broad spectrum of global texts in translation opting for an interdisciplinary appraoch to the study of literature that combines close textual analysis with global history, sociology and decolonial theory. Our Language courses and certificate options encourage students to connect and engage in new and exciting ways as the technical study of language is combined with cultural and historical teachings.
Our mission is to offer an approach to the study of world languages and literatures that emphasizes collaboration across linguistic and disciplinary lines. Through teaching and research, we promote a dynamic and innovative approach to language and literary study that reflects and supports our diverse society. Our instructors are experts in their fields, with many years of experience and wide cultural knowledge to give depth to your learning.
