Congratulations, Rachel Warwick

SCA visual art student Rachel Warwick won a 2019 Audain Travel Award valued at $7,500 from the Audain Foundation. Chosen by faculty at their respective institutions, the award is for students in university-level visual arts programs in BC, including Simon Fraser University, University of British Columbia Okanagan, University of British Columbia, University of Victoria, and Emily Carr University of Art and Design.

Rachel’s research focuses on the relationship of individuals to space, place, or being. Her travel proposal takes the form of a road trip across North America on a six-week archival research project that centers around existing and pre-existing feminist bookstores. She will visit galleries, museums, and the original sites of the bookstores and archives where she will research and collect material.

The Audain Travel Awards were given out at the same event at the Vancouver Club on Monday, September 23, where Stan Douglas was awarded the $100,000 Audain Prize for the Visual Arts.

Congratulations again, Rachel, and good luck with your work!
