Pavsek's As Grey Falls

Prevailing Landscapes

The SCA's Jin-me Yoon and SCA alumnus Krystle Silverfox are part of the exhibition Prevailing Landscapes, which runs April 12 – June 22, 2024, at the Gordon Smith Gallery of Canadian Art (2121 Lonsdale Ave., North Vancouver), presented as part of the 2024 Capture Photography Festival. More HERE.

The SCA's NiNi Dongnier was just announced as one of the 2024 Performance Residency Artists at the Monira Foundation (888 Newark Ave, Jersey City). Congratulations, NiNi!

Peequaquat talks IUPP and SIFF 2024

Tessa Perkins Deneault from the Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology interviewed Morgan Peequaquat, a student in SFU's Indigenous University Preparation Pathway (IUPP) who's also one of the students in CA 389: Selected Topics in the Fine and Performing Arts, the SCA course dedicated to organizing and producing the 6th annual Skoden Indigenous Film Festival (SIFF), which runs April 6 – 7, 2024, in the Djavad Mowafaghian Cinema here with us at 149 W. Horror in Seconds 2 fundraiser

SCA alumnus Doaa Magdy has started a fundraiser for the second edition of their festival, Horror in Seconds, which is dedicated to 60-seconds-or-less horror shorts from emerging BIPOC filmmakers in Canada. More info HERE

On Ng’s Music in My Eyes

The Art Gallery at the Evergreen Cultural Centre​ (1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam) shared a good introduction on their Instagram to SCA alumnus Silas Ng’s long-exposure photo series, Music in My Eyes, which is installed on their windows until September, 2024, presented as part of the 2024 Capture Photography Festival Selected Exhibition Program. Vancouver Art Blog looks at One End to Another

Andrew Booth at the Vancouver Art Blog shared some great installation images from One End to Another, the third-year SCA visual art exhibition, presented in collaboration with Iman Issa, the Spring 2024 Audain Visual Artist in Residence. Silverfox and Sound in BACA

SCA alumni Krystle Silverfox and Michelle Sound are participating in the 7th edition of the Contemporary Native Art Biennial / Biennale d’art contemporain autochtone (BACA), which is "a multi-venue exhibition that explores the deep-rooted theme of Creation Stories through the eyes of a talented collective of four curators:" Lori Beavis, Emma Hassencahl-Perley, Jake Kimble, and Teresa Vander Meer-Chassé. Vascular Necrosis in the Flying Start Program

SCA alumnus Jordyn Wood's play Vascular Necrosis was selected for Touchstone Theatre's Flying Start Program, which is "a two-year program designed for an underrepresented, early-career playwright or devisor(s) ready to take their script to the next level," culminating in a "production of the theatrical piece in Touchstone’s mainstage season."
