If you are a faculty member, lecturer, or sessional instructor at SFU Surrey, drop by the TLC office in Podium 2 any Thursday in November to participate in an informal conversation about a topic in teaching and learning.

Bring your lunch, listen to a brief introduction by one of our educational consultants, and start discussing. No preparation or registration is required.

November 15 | 12:30–1:30 pm | Different Forms of Assessment for Students’ Work

Share your experience with the assessment methods that you are currently using or have used in the past. How did you find alternatives to the traditional methods, and why did you choose to try them? How did they work? Are there methods that you would like to recommend to your colleagues? Or maybe you have good reasons for sticking with the traditional approach?

November 22 | 12:30–1:30 pm | Teaching Around the World

The people who teach at SFU come from all over the world – so why not take advantage of this huge collection of expertise? Share your experience – as an instructor or as a student – with approaches to post-secondary education in other countries, and discuss how (some of) those ideas could inspire teaching at SFU.

November 29 | 12:30–1:30 pm | Story Exchange

We all have stories to tell about wonderful teachers who inspired us, about fascinating individuals who made us see our discipline in a new light – but also about horrible teachers who caused us to promise ourselves that we would never, ever, become one of them. Come and share your stories!
