BB Collaborate is an online conferencing tool available to all instructors and staff at SFU via a site licence. It can be used as a virtual classroom, for meetings, and to offer online office hours, and it is often used to record sessions for later access. Conferencing solutions officially supported by the University are described below.
Blackboard Collaborate Ultra
Introduced in Fall 2016, the newest version of Collaborate sports a modern, user-friendly interface. Unlike BB Collaborate, Blackboard Collaborate Ultra is web-based, and no launcher is needed to start a session. Please note that BB Collaborate is still available if you prefer to continue using it.
You can set up Blackboard Collaborate Ultra sessions in Canvas by adding Blackboard Collaborate Ultra to your course. To add Blackboard Collaborate Ultra, follow these instructions.
If you use Blackboard Collaborate Ultra, you should use the Google Chrome browser.
