You’ve done it! You’ve secured a Co-op work term. Congrats! Your hard work and preparation paid off. Now what?
Co-op is an educational program linking your academic studies with your personal and professional development. You’ll want to complete these educational components throughout your work term (yes, they’re required):
Work eligibility and medical insurance
Before starting a co-op term, ensure you have the required documentation to be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Social Insurance Number (SIN): Learn how to apply for a SIN by reviewing the Applying for a SIN handout from International Services for Students.
- Medical insurance: For information about medical insurance requirements for students, including while on a co-op term, visit the SFU Medical Insurance page.
Setting Learning Objectives
Updating your Placement details in myExperience & Setting Learning Objectives.
Site Visit Form
Completion of your Site Visit form on myExperience once your site visit has been arranged.
Site Visit with Co-op Coordinator
Participating in a Site Visit with the assigned Co-op Coordinator.
End-of-term Documents
Ensuring your end of work term documents are done by set deadlines. This applies to each term you are on co-op:
- Student Evaluation of work term
- Supervisor Evaluation
- Assigned Work Term Reports/Oral Presentation
