NEW FACULTY INFORMATION

Dear New Colleague,

Congratulations on joining SFU!

Faculty Relations is the planning, policy advising, and administration office for faculty and academic administrators. We support these groups throughout their careers with SFU.

Many of our resources are available on our website (www.sfu.ca/faculty-relations.html) including an electronic version of your collective agreement. You can also find information addressing a range of matters, from relocation to retirement.

The New Faculty Information section on our website is an extension of the orientation session offered in August and offers more detailed information relating to various stages of your career. We have included a dedicated page for orientation, which has useful information to help you settle into your new role including an introduction to the administrative and service departments at the university.

The broader Faculty Relations website includes a benefits and services page containing information about health and welfare benefits, housing, childcare and mortgage assistance, as well as pages dedicated to other topics, such as tenure and promotion, leaves, and professional development expenses.

If you cannot find what you are looking for, simply head to the Contact Us page to find the Faculty Relations Advisor supporting your Faculty.

There are a number of courses that all SFU employees must complete as part of their onboarding process. These courses lay the foundation for a safe and inclusive workplace that promotes respect, integrity, and collaboration. You are encouraged to complete the training as soon as you can. Each course takes approximately an hour to complete:

SFU Safety Orientation

Respectful Working & Learning Environments

Privacy Training

We wish you the very best as you embark on your new career with Simon Fraser University. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
