Strategic Business Partners Services Overview
The Strategic Business Partner (SBP) Services team collaborates closely with leaders across the University to deliver comprehensive guidance and support on all people-related matters. Our services include:
- Workforce Planning & Organizational Design
- Employee Engagement, Recruitment & Retention
- Performance & Talent Development
- Advice and Coaching to Leaders
- Policy and Practice Guidance
We act as the first point of contact for leaders on HR questions, ensuring a people-centered approach aligned with University policies and strategic priorities. Through strong partnerships, we connect leaders with specialized expertise from our Centres of Excellence, including Organizational Health & Wellness, Total Rewards, Labour Relations, Learning & Development, and more within People Strategies.
Roles and Responsibilities
Human Resources Specialists (HRS):
Support managers with core HR functions such as recruitment, employee movement, policy interpretation, performance management, job description development, and HR systems/processes.
Strategic Business Partners (SBP/HRBP):
Partner with leaders to align HR strategies with business priorities, focusing on organizational development, workforce planning, employee performance, employee relations, and change management.
Manager, Strategic Business Partner Services:
Collaborates with senior leadership to align HR strategy with long-term goals, oversees complex HR initiatives, leads HR teams, provides expert guidance, and serves as the senior escalation point.
Director, Organization Effectiveness & People Services:
Provides senior leadership to the delivery of strategic business partner services to units across the university, provides leadership to the planning and development of HR initiatives and strategies that align with University goals and objectives and oversees team service delivery, operational excellence and continuous improvement.
