Synopsis

We explore the contemporary quest in the field of magnetoreception. It has been quite some time, since different magnetic parameter sensing capabilities has been observed in several animals. This study briefly discusses the earth’s geomagnetic filed and its possible properties necessary for geomagnetic sensing. Explores possible orientation and navigation strategies of different animals. Further explores two major hypotheses (Radical Pair Hypothesis, and  Magnetite Based Orientation Hypothesis) try explaining the magnetoreception in different animals, with special emphasis on birds as it’s the most studied in the field, and tries to realize the possibilities of successful appreciation and/or failure of the noted observations.
