Synopsis

Nerves comprise an integral part of human anatomy, carrying sensory and motor signals between the brain and the rest of the body. Individual nerve cells called neurons function via an electrochemical mechanism to convey these signals. In this talk I introduce the ionic and electrical components of this mechanism, then explore how the proper conduction is altered in the case of a couple of different medical conditions such as multiple sclerosis (MS).
