Undergraduate Outreach Award in Physics

Cyan Kim is the winner of the 2025 Faculty of Science Undergraduate Outreach Award in Physics.

Cyan is a Physics student in the Accelerated Masters program working in the Kavanagh lab.  He has made public engagement a central part of his academic life, volunteering for virtually every outreach event involving the Department of Physics including Discover Physics @SFU, Science Rendezvous, and the Trottier Observatory 10th Anniversary.  Cyan has also taken leadership in developing new physics demos, with an example being a painstakingly designed and 3D-printed hands-on demonstration that teaches basic principles of quantum computing.
