Fees and Tuition

Tuition is due at the beginning of each term, along with the transit pass, medical insurance, and activity fees. Use the budget estimator and read more about payment and opt-out deadlines here.

Financial aid

Financial assistance is available in different forms: awards, bursaries, loans, and scholarships. Eligibility varies. All students should read this section to find out if they qualify, as not all financial assistance requires repayment. Learn more

Payment and refund dates

Fall deadlines

Payment
Tuesday, August 1 Deadline to pay fall Residence fees. www.sfu.ca/students/residences/fees/payment-methods.html. A 2% monthly interest charge will be assessed after the tuition due date (September 20, 2022) and on the first of each month thereafter. 
Tuesday, September 19 Deadline to pay tuition and student fees. See How to Pay, and note it takes up to five business days for your payment to be received and show in goSFU. A 2% monthly interest charge will be assessed after the due date and on the first of each month thereafter.
Friday, October 20   Deadline to pay Co-op Practicum fees.

Tuesday, September 12 Last day to drop a class for 100% refund of tuition. For Mandatory Supplementary Course Fee refunds, please check with the department/faculty regarding the specific deadline.
Tuesday, September 19 Last day to drop a class for 75% refund of tuition.  Last day for a refund of student fees (Student Services, Recreation-Athletics, and Student Activity).
A 2% monthly interest charge will be assessed on the outstanding balance after tuition deadline and on the first of each month thereafter.
Tuesday, September 26 Last day for 50% refund of tuition. No refund of student fees.
A 2% monthly interest charge will be assessed on the outstanding balance after tuition deadline and on the first of each month thereafter.
Wednesday, September 27 No refund for courses dropped. A 2% monthly interest charge will be assessed on the outstanding balance after tuition deadline and on the first of each month thereafter.
Friday, October 20 after 10:00am, and every month thereafter
If you have not enrolled in direct deposit, refund cheques requested for overpayment (which are not related to scholarships and bursaries*) are available for pickup at Burnaby campus, unless payment has been made by personal cheque (which require a 45 day clearance period). See Fees: Refunds.
