Finances

Managing your finances is an important part of your student experience at SFU. This page helps you understand your costs, check and pay your fees, keep track of key payment and refund dates, and explore financial aid and planning resources.

Fees and tuition

Your tuition and fees are based on the courses you take and your student status. In addition to tuition, you may be charged supplementary fees such as student services, medical insurance, and transit (U-Pass BC).

Tuition is due early each term, so it’s important to review your account, understand your costs, and plan ahead for payment.

Important dates for fees and refunds

Key dates for paying tuition, receiving refunds, and dropping courses vary by term. These deadlines are published in the Dates and Deadlines calendar and are updated each term.

Financial aid and awards

SFU offers a range of funding options to support your studies, including merit-based scholarships and awards, as well as need-based bursaries and the Work-Study program. You may also be eligible for government aid, such as student loans and non-repayable grants.

Your eligibility and application process will depend on your program and student status (undergraduate, graduate, indigenous, or international). Explore your options early and learn how to apply on the Financial Aid and Awards website.
