TEMPORARY ISSUE AFFECTING MAY U-PASS BC REQUESTS

Due to a technical issue between TransLink and SFU web services, some students may experience challenges requesting their May U‑Pass BC starting Thursday, April 16, as previously planned. This issue impacts students who registered for Summer 2026 courses after March 24.

What this means for you:

You may not be able to request your May U‑Pass BC through the U-Pass BC website as expected tomorrow. We ask that you try again next week.

We will share an update as soon as the issue is resolved. Your current April U-Pass BC is unaffected and will continue to operate as usual. Updates will be posted here.

SFU and TransLink are actively working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We understand this may be inconvenient and appreciate your patience.

You will need to buy an Adult Compass Card from one of the TransLink options. See where to buy compass cards.

Once you have your Compass Card, you will need to follow a couple of simple steps before you can start using the U-Pass BC on your Compass Card:

Sign into the U-Pass BC website
Select "Simon Fraser University" from the drop down menu
Log in using your SFU computing ID (it's the same as your SFU email login)
Link your Compass Card by entering the 20-digits and CVN on the back of your Compass Card
Request your U-Pass BC

The U-Pass BC website uses cookies. If your cookies are disabled on your browser, you will need to enable them to gain access the U-Pass BC website. Please go to your browser’s preferences and enable cookies to proceed with using the U-Pass BC website. TransLink's privacy policy, available on their website, provides more information on cookies.

Please note

It can take up to 24 hours for your U-Pass BC to be loaded onto your Compass Card, so make sure you request your U-Pass BC at least the day before the end of the month. Without a valid U-Pass BC on your Compass Card, you are responsible for paying your transit fare.

Request your U-Pass BC every month

You will need to log into the U-Pass BC website each month to request your monthly U-Pass BC be loaded onto your Compass Card. You will be able to request your next month's U-Pass BC starting on the 16th of the current month.
