Biography
Title of Dissertation: Addressing Social and Economic Components of Aboriginal Clam Fisheries Access and Management Rights in British Columbia
My PhD research is focused on addressing social, ecological, and economic challenges facing the governance of wild and aquaculture intertidal clam fisheries in BC, particularly for coastal aboriginal communities. My research is part of the Too Big Too Ignore global partnership for small-scale fisheries research. Prior to joining the School of Resource and Environmental Management, I was involved in the implementation of a co-managed marine protected area in Grenada. I hold a Master of Science in Environmental Policy and Regulation from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Development Studies and Women’s Studies from the University of Calgary. While at the LSE, my master’s research focused on sea turtle conservation policy in Guatemalan coastal communities.
