Biography

Dr. Andrew Gemino currently serves as Beedie Professor and Associate Dean, Executive Education at the Beedie School of Business. He has previously served as pro tem Dean (2020-21), Associate Dean, undergraduate programs (2010-17), Associate Dean, graduate programs (2017-2023) at SFU Beedie.

Andrew is an award-winning teacher who has twice received the Canada Trust Distinguished Teacher award from the Beedie School of Business, the SFU Teaching Excellence Award from SFU, the MBA Teaching Excellence Award from UBC, along with 16 years on the Beedie Teaching Honor Roll. Andrew's academic research focuses on digital transformation, project management, business solutions design and business analytics. He has held over $1million in research awards including NSERC, SSHRC and Western Economic Development Fund. He has co-authored an award winning textbook - Experiencing MIS". In earlier years, Andrew was the co-founder of a software company that developed commercial software for professional sports teams in the NHL and NBA, as well as automated employee scheduling for sports and entertainment companies. He also provided his expertise to the Surgeon Information System Working Group for the Provincial Surgical Oncology Council and served as a Boys and Girls soccer and basketball coach for over 7 years in Coquitlam. Andrew played bass/keyboards for many years in a local rock and roll band which clearly served as an excellent foundation for teaching, research and academic administration.
