Marvin Washington
Biography
Dr. Marvin Washington is the Dean of the SFU Beedie School of Business and a Professor of Strategy and Organization. His research, teaching, and consulting focus on processes of organizational and institutional change.
He is the author of three books on leadership and organizational change. His most recent book, Leading Self Before Leading Others (with Stephen Hacker, Business Expert Press), explores the development of personal mastery as a foundation for effective leadership. Throughout his career, Dr. Washington has taught undergraduate, graduate, and executive students and has worked with a wide range of organizations including Enbridge, AIMCo, Blue Cross, YMCA, Parkland Fuels, Syncrude, and SportChek, as well as government ministries and departments in Botswana, the state of Oregon, the Government of Alberta, and the City of Edmonton.
Prior to his academic career, Dr. Washington worked as a manufacturing manager at Procter & Gamble, where he was responsible for Zest Bar Soap.
