Michelle Collens

Biography

Michelle Collens is the Director of Tourism & Destination Events for the City of Vancouver, where she leads strategy and partnerships to attract major sporting events to the city through Sport Hosting Vancouver—a collaboration with Destination Vancouver and the Vancouver Hotel Destination Association. She is also currently serving as Acting Film Commissioner for the City of Vancouver.

Michelle was a key contributor to Vancouver's successful bid to become a host city for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, one of the largest sporting events in the city's history. She has also played a central role in securing and delivering world-class events including the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025, the Laver Cup, the annual T100 Vancouver Triathlon, and the World Rugby Vancouver Sevens, now in its 11th year.

Beyond her role with the City, Michelle is an active community leader, having served on the boards of BC Golf, Golf Canada, the UBC Alumni Board and Sport Tourism Canada, as well as the VGH Foundation Gala Committee. Her contributions to Vancouver's business and tourism sectors have been recognized with a Business in Vancouver Top 500 listing and two Power 50 Awards from Vancouver Magazine.

A former varsity volleyball player, Michelle brings a lifelong athlete's drive and collaborative spirit to positioning Vancouver as a global events hub on the world stage.
