Career Consultations
We offer writers, editors, corporate communicators and publishers an opportunity to discuss their career goals and aspirations with a professional in the field. These consultations provide career and education guidance, résumé feedback, suggestions regarding skill development and coaching. They do not include manuscript assessments or editorial review.
During these private consultations, you'll receive candid advice on how to build on career-focused strengths and skills, and overcome weaknesses and concerns. Many of our instructors are available as consultants in business writing and marketing communication, technical communication, book and magazine publishing, editing, freelance writing, journalism and creative writing.
After registering, contact us at write@sfu.ca to set up an appointment, indicating—in order of preference—three instructors with whom you would like to meet. We will arrange for you to meet with one of the three instructors.
Consultations are available weekdays, evenings or weekends. We'll make every effort to match you with one of your three choices of consultants within a month of registration, but we cannot guarantee availability.
