About Us

SFU's Environmental Science program started over 25 years ago. To address the growing demand for Environmental Scientists, we became a School in 2019. Training the next generation of scientists to tackle environmental problems, we believe we can shape a better future, and so can you!

Message from the Director

Our undergraduate program in Environmental Science provides an interdisciplinary education with a solid background in the physical and biological sciences, anchored by core environmental science courses.

Our graduates work in environmental consulting, industry, government and a wide variety of non-governmental organizations, applying what they learned at SFU to real-world environmental problem solving.

We are justifiably proud of the work our students and graduates do. If you would like to join their ranks, please contact us.

Our Statement on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

The SFU School of Environmental Science commits to working toward the creation of a diverse, equitable, inclusive and anti-racist community that is broadly representative of environmental scholars. We pledge to foster and promote a space of learning and scholarship where all forms of inquiry are appreciated, and where all feel safe in sharing their thoughts, ideas and perspectives, as scientists and individuals. We pledge to promote constructive and respectful dialogue about nature, and the human relationship with nature, through our collective science and involvement with community-led efforts and initiatives. We are privileged to pursue our vision while working on the unceded, traditional territories of the Squamish, Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh, Katzie and Kwikwetlem Nations.
