Reimer wins!

SCA MFA student Jami Reimer, following up the successful run of Soft Tongues: a Bioacoustic Opera, her MFA Project, which ran May 26 & 27, 2023, has won the Canada Council for the Arts' Robert Fleming Prize. Congratulations, Jami! More HERE.

Priest's That Worm-like Feeling…

The SCA's Eldritch Priest is presenting his paper, That Worm-like Feeling…, at the London Conference in Critical Thought, which runs June 31 – July 1, 2023, at London Metropolitan University. More HERE.

Clay in What Is Welcome? & The Street

The SCA's Allyson Clay is part of the exhibition What Is Welcome? at the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery from June 23 – August 12, 2023, and opening June 22 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, which also includes Claudia Cuesta, Andrea Fraser, ReMatriate Collective and Holly Schmidt, Skeena Reece, Kika Thorne, and Tania Willard. Betty Mitchell Awards

The SCA's Wladimiro A. Woyno Rodriguez (for Ghost River Theatre's presentation of STRUCK) is up against SCA alumni Cindy Mochizuki and Sammy ChienChimerik 似不像 (for Theatre Calgary's presentation of SCA alumnus Hiro Kanagawa's adaptation of Mark Sakamoto's memoir Forgiveness) in the category of Outstanding Projection or Video Design at the 2023 Betty Mitchell Awards, which recognize "excellence in Calgary's Professional Theatre Community." Kanagawa's Forgiveness is also nominated for both Outstanding New Play and Outstanding Production of a Play. Winners will be announced Monday, June 19, at the awards ceremony at the Jubilee Auditorium Lobby (1415 14 Ave. NW, Calgary). See all the nominees HERE.

SCA alumnus Michelle Sound​ is giving an artist talk on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at 2:00 PM in support of her exhibition LIVE THROUGH THIS at the Seymour Art Gallery​ (4360 Gallant Ave., North Vancouver), running to July 8, 2023. More HERE. Also, Sound shared the cover for Jordan Abel's Empty Spaces on her Instagram, which is out in August, 2023, from McClelland & Stewart​, which she did the art for.
