Rodriguez works The Flying Dutchman

The SCA's Wladimiro A. Woyno Rodriguez is on Projection Design duties, likely with a crew with some SCA students and alumni, for the Vancouver Opera's upcoming presentation of The Flying Dutchman, which runs April 29 – May 7, 2023, at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre (630 Hamilton St., Vancouver).

Tacata, Chambers, and Loscil's Soft Launch

Organized by Vanessa Kwan at ECU's Libby Leshgold Gallery, the SCA's Ryan Tacata and Justine A. Chambers join SCA alumnus Scott Morgan / Loscil and lighting designer James Proudfoot on Soft Launch, which is a set of "two-week 'mini-residencies'" used to explore the question, "What does it mean to open a space to other things?," running across March & April, 2023. For You's The Welcoming

The SCA's Ryan Tacata and his collaborators Erika Chong Shuch and Rowena Richie in For You Productions presented The Welcoming, "the first taste in a series of interactive performances," on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at the Headlands Center for the Arts. More HERE.

Chambers' Semiprecious

Artspeak has launched BEACON 04: Semiprecious, which offers "a syllabus for relating / a lodging for our relations" by the SCA's Justine A. Chambers, which grew out of a studio residency Chambers had with the gallery in 2019.

Adler's slowest tour in the world

The SCA's Barbara Adler has announced the "slowest tour in the world," which will have her "sharing an installation, artist talk and process design workshop at Gabriola Isle of the Arts Festival, with showings roughly once per month until August, at other places." Visit Silverfox and Yoon at Evergreen

Make the trip out to the Evergreen Cultural Centre to both see SCA alumnus Krystle Silverfox's Hats’adän echo (Elder’s teachings), which is on Evergreen's windows until April 5 (read what Silverfox has to say about this work on her Instagram), and Jin-me Yoon's Long Time So Long, which runs to April 30, 2023. That's a good afternoon right there!

Until Branches Bend in Stir and Pancouver

Triana's Arboles

SCA alumni Jhoely Triana is performing her flamenco dance work Arboles (Trees) as part of the Evergreen Cultural Centre's 2023 Rehearsal Hall Sessions on May 27, 2023, from 8:30 PM - 9:30 PM at Evergreen Cultural Centre's Rehearsal Hall (1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam). Deadline extended – Louise Bentall Award for Emerging B.C. Choreographers

Created in memory of Louise Bentall, a long-time board member of DanceHouse and SCA alumnus who was dedicated to local arts and culture and other charitable work who passed in 2017, DanceHouse and the Hawthorne Foundation have launched the Louise Bentall Award for Emerging B.C. Choreographers. With a value of $10,000, the award is open to "individual emerging dance artists working in all styles of dance, including collaborative and/or multidisciplinary projects" (not including students, companies, collectives, or organizations). Applications are due March 27, 2023. Apply HERE.
