Refund schedule

This page outlines when student refunds are issued by direct deposit or cheque. Refunds are processed according to the timelines below once your request has been approved.

Check your refund status

To check if your refund has been processed, log in to goSFU, select Student Center, then Account Inquiry under Finances. Click Activity, pick the term, and look for 'AP Refund' or other refund types listed on your Account Activity page.

If you are expecting a refund from scholarships, awards, student loans, and/or bursaries, please refer to the Refunds related to scholarships, awards, student loans and bursaries section below.

No further refund cheques will be issued if you have not picked up your Fall 2025 cheque by December 24, 2025.

Submit a refund request

You must enrol in direct deposit at least five business days before the refund date.

Overpayment refund schedule

Overpayment refund requests will not be processed during the first six weeks of the term (January 6 to February 13 for Spring 2026).

If you paid by personal cheque, your payment will only be eligible for a refund 45 days after the cheque's posting date, as recorded in your goSFU student account.

Refund cheques are not issued in December, April, and August (see dates below). However, refunds by Direct Deposit will continue as usual during these months. We recommend signing up for Direct Deposit for faster processing.

Please be aware that not all requests may be accommodated, and you may be asked to provide additional information for your refund.

Student Loans Overpayment

If too much money was deducted from your student loan as a result of your dropping classes or receiving an Entrance/Open Scholarship, the extra amount will be refunded in the third week of classes.

To check your Student Loan Confirmation Date, log in at goSFU, click on the Student Center tile > Finances > Student Aid and Award Profile.

Please complete the 'Online Refund Request' form at goSFU. After logging in, click on the Student Center tile > Finances > Online Refund Request form.
