Whether you are a high school student thinking about coming to Simon Fraser University (SFU) to study chemistry, a prospective graduate student, a potential colleague or an interested member of the public, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Department of Chemistry at SFU, one of the most prestigious and modern academic institutions in Canada. I am certain that you will find this website informative and easy to navigate as you learn about our department.
SFU is located nine miles from downtown Vancouver atop Burnaby Mountain with spectacular views of the Burrard Inlet and Coastal Mountains. The Department of Chemistry ranks among the top 10 Chemistry Departments in Canada and, with 30 highly experienced research-active faculty and eight lecturers, is known for cutting edge chemical and multidisciplinary research as well as teaching excellence aimed at providing students with the necessary scientific foundation for studies in related fields and at creating the next generation of chemists in Canada and around the world.
I feel confident that after perusing our website you will feel compelled to make Chemistry at SFU part of your future. Your decision should not be taken lightly, that is why our doors are always open to your enquiries. We are here to answer any question or concern about our programs and research activities. Please visit us when you are in town.
Following recent extensive renovations you will now find us in Shrum Science Centre (SSC) 9040. We expect that our newly remodeled Chemistry building, with state of the art amenities, will attract top researchers and provide a desirable environment for producing highly-skilled graduates.
