Can I keep existing Bria extension number after migration to Mitel Softphone?

Yes, all Bria users will be able to keep the same extension number after migration to Mitel Softphone.

Can I transfer calls to other SFU local numbers while using Mitel Softphone?

Yes, you will be able to transfer calls to five digits SFU local numbers or choose a contact or enter a name or telephone number from personal directory.

What happens if my Wi - Fi connection or network connection goes down while using Mitel Softphone?  

If you are unable to connect to a Wi-Fi network, or your regular network connection becomes unavailable, your call will be dropped.

What will happen if I dial 911 from a Mitel Softphone?

Our team is exploring 911 dialling options from a Mitel Softphone and will provide updates as the project progresses.

How many additional extensions can I have?

You can have your same log in on multiple devices (laptop, iPad, Tablet).

Do I login to Mitel Softphone using my SFU computing ID?

Our team is exploring how to use your SFU computing ID as a way to log in to Mitel Softphone. We will have more details as the project progresses.  

Will my SFU managed device (office computer, laptop..etc) come with Mitel Softphone?

The Mitel Softphone PC Client will be available (or pushed) on SFU managed machines.  If you have a license, you can launch the software and use your login details.  If you do not have a license, you will have to contact phones@sfu.ca for details.

Can I use Mitel softphone while I'm away from campus?

Yes, it can be used on & off campus.

Will I be able to upgrade my desk phone?

The SFU phones team is available for consulation regarding desk phone upgrades as part of this infrastructure project. Please email phones@sfu.ca for assistance.
