Broaden your horizons with SFU’s international opportunities

January 10, 2019

Would you like to enhance your resume and your university experience at the same time?

You can do both by taking part in a field school, an international exchange, or a short-term summer program at one of SFU's partner institutions while earning credit towards your degree.

SFU has nearly 120 exchange institutions in more than 40 countries to choose from, and this Summer, there are field schools in seven different locations and academic areas. SFU tuition costs are the same to study abroad and you can apply for funding for most programs. Most exchange institutions offer courses taught in English.

The professional and career benefits of international experience are well known.

According to Universities Canada, 80% of Canadian hiring managers see cross-cultural understanding and knowledge of the global marketplace as competitive advantages.

Study abroad programs allow students to develop essential skills, perspectives and networks that help them navigate our rapidly changing labour market, while those with international experience earn more on average than those that don’t.

Plus, the personal rewards are invaluable. Studying abroad helps you see the world, broaden your horizons, and forge diverse friendships. You’ll gain a global outlook while building independence and confidence.

Don’t just take my word for it. Find out more about SFU’s exciting study abroad opportunities by visiting www.sfu.ca/students/studyabroad.html, attending an information session, or speaking to a Study Abroad Advisor.
