What is Risk Assessment?

Risk assessment is an examination of the aspects of a task that may expose individuals to an increased risk of injury. It is a proactive approach for identifying hazards that exists in your workplace, and work processes. It involves a series of steps for:

1)      Effectively identifying hazards and risk factors that have potential for causing harm (hazard identification),

2)      Analyzing and evaluating the risk associated with that hazard (risk analysis, risk evaluation) and

3)     Determining appropriate control measure for eliminating or controlling the risk when a hazard cannot be eliminated (risk control).
