SFU’s Arthur Robson, CRC Chair in Economic Theory and Evolution, has been awarded a fellowship from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation for a 12 month period starting in January 2012. This prestigious fellowship is awarded 'to men and women who have already demonstrated exceptional capacity for productive scholarship or exceptional creative ability in the arts'.

Dr. Robson is one of only five Canadians on this year’s recipient list. The fellowship was awarded for his project entitled 'Biological Basis of Economic Behavior'. His work researches “the biological underpinnings” of how evolution influences human economic behavior and its implications for economic theory.

Dr. Robson is the fifth SFU faculty member to receive the Guggenheim fellowship. All of recipients have been members of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. They are Ralph Maud (English, 1966), Geoffrey Bursull-Hall (Linguistics, 1972), Brian Newton (Linguistics, 1974), and Paul Delany (English, 1976).
