International Studies Student, Claire Sieffert, Campaigns for National Eating Disorder Policy

An SFU International Studies student is sending postcards to politicians that call for a national eating disorder support policy.

Claire Sieffert, founder of advocacy organization Post Your Change, held the first PostEd drive Friday, Jan. 22 in the lobby at SFU’s Vancouver campus. Sieffert and participants illustrated and decorated postcards that urged MPs to consider forming a national eating disorder health strategy.

“It’s the most deadly mental health illness in Canada but at the same time really underfunded,” Sieffert says. “Parents have done crowd-funded campaigns to send their kids to private treatment because public treatment is really nonexistent compared with the scope of the problem.”
