Modules
Incident Reporting & Investigation
The Incident reporting & investigation module allows users to report safety incidents in a timely manner. Online incident reporting ensures incident details are documented to allow for incident investigation and prevention of similar incidents on campus and, if an incident evolves into a claim, the incident report supports the worker's claim for compensation through WorkSafeBC. Corrective actions identified during the incident investigation are tracked to ensure clear assignment of responsibility and timely completion.
Additional information about incident reporting is available here.
Training Records
The Training Records module provides employees and supervisors with easier access to safety training records in one place.
- Employees can view completed safety training, download or print training certificates, access training records when needed.
- Supervisors can view employee training records, support onboarding and training compliance, monitor completion of required safety training.
Please note that supervisory information is pulled from HR's myInfo system. As a result, some employees may not see their current supervisor listed and supervisors may not see their current staff listed in Safety Spectrum.
See our Frequently Asked Questions.
A list and description of available safety training courses is available here.
Inspections
The inspections module allows users to perform and record ergonomics assessments in real-time, access historical data, and monitor trends. It facilitates the tracking of corrective actions, helps make inspections more collaborative, and improves record keeping.
The Inspections Management module is a tool for safety committees, Lab Managers, EHS staff and other SFU employees who are responsible for performing inspections of their workplaces. Existing inspection templates for safety committees, laboratories, workstation assessments, specialized equipment and other hazard-specific assessments are available in the system. Additional information about workplace and lab inspections is available here.
