Description, purpose and use of records

The records consist of tuition waiver certificates issued to students enrolled in particular Education courses.  By taking these courses, students are eligible to waive up to 4 semester hours credit within two calendar years of the date the certificate was issued.

These records are created, used, retained and managed in accordance with the following authorities:

  • Income Tax Act (RSC 1985, c. I-3.3)

 

Retention rationale

These records are required by the Cashier's Office for administrative, fiscal and legal use until the expiration of the total retention period. Upon the expiration of the total retention period, these records can be destroyed in accordance with the Income Tax Act (RSC 1952, c. 148, s. 230).
