Alex Smith obtains 2019 Esri Canada Center of Excellence in GIS Student Associate Achievement Award

Alex Smith was awarded the Esri Canada Center of Excellence (ECCE) Student Associate Achievement Award based for his continued accomplishments at the SFU ECCE during the past year. He participated in several SFU ECCE activities since becoming a member in Fall 2017: App Challenge competitions, presented at the 2017 Esri Canada User conference in Vancouver and several other GIS-related conferences. Alex is a co-author and presenter of the research paper accepted for publication in the Transaction in GIS journal that is included in the special session on GIScience Research at the 2019 Esri International User Conference in San Diego, USA. Alex is enrolled in our Geography PhD program, with research interest focusing on the advancement of multidimensional agent-based models using Java programming and GIS software tools to model and represent complex geospatial phenomena.
