The 2019 Esri Canada Vancouver User Conference on October 22nd provided a unique professional and learning opportunity for those involved in the GIScience discipline. In attendance were past and current students as well as staff and faculty from SFU who are associated with GIScience. The conference included research presentations, new and exciting GIS software tools and demonstrations, and the opportunity to network with industry professionals and colleagues within Higher Education. The Conference also provided a forum to meet past graduates from the Department of Geography's Certificate in Spatial Information Science Program and to learn more about their successes in research and the workplace. Graduate students Ruslan Rydvanskiy from Geography (Spatial Interface Lab), Bright Addae from Geography (Spatial Analysis and Modeling Lab) and Danielle Derrick from Biological Sciences (Dulvy Lab) delivered excellent talks on their Masters Thesis research. The SFU Esri Canada Centre of Excellence (ECCE) within the Department of Geography and co-managed by Dr. Shiv Balram and Dr. Suzana Dragicevic facilitated the attendance of some of the SFU participants at no-cost thanks to the generous support and flexibility of Esri Canada.
