Strike for Climate Action
Millions of students around the world have joined the #FridaysForFuture school strikes in a movement for climate action. On September 27 2019, millions more people will join the student climate strikers, leaving schools, workplaces and homes in a General Strike for Climate Action (see https://globalclimatestrike.net/).
Local youth movements have asked us to put our normal lives on hold and mobilize to call for urgent, dramatic action for climate justice. The Vancouver strike and march begins at Vancouver City Hall at 1pm (see https://www.facebook.com/events/659383604564246/).
SFU’s Department of Geography supports students and members of the department who participate. Accommodations will be made for students who miss classes. If you have a class on Friday, please contact your instructor for more details.
SFU students are meeting at 12.30pm at Broadway City Hall, Canada Line Station, and will walk together to city hall (see https://www.facebook.com/events/398690757509394/). Embark Sustainability also invites all students to participate in a climate strike sign‐making party on Wednesday, September 25 from 11:30 am ‐ 1:30 pm in SFPIRG's lounge at SFU Burnaby (TC326 in the Rotunda) (see https://www.facebook.com/events/388212885203105/).
