A new public report, "Who Benefits from Caribou Decline" has just been released by the CCPA and features SFU geography faculty member Rosemary Collard as one of the authors. The report demonstrates that coal mining in endangered Central Mountain Caribou habitat not only destroys caribou habitat but also only produces a fraction of the economic benefits companies claim in their environmental assessment applications. The report and news release are available here: https://www.policyalternatives.ca/publications/reports/who-benefits-caribou-decline. The Narwhal and the Tyee have both covered the report: https://thenarwhal.ca/bc-extinction-caribou-coal-mining-ccpa-report/, https://thetyee.ca/Analysis/2020/12/03/BC-Coal-Mining-Failed-Delivery/
