The Hydrology group is seeking students
The Hydrology research group in the Department of Geography at Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, BC, Canada (https://www.sfu.ca/geography.html), is seeking students at the MSc and PhD level.
Students would work under the supervision of Jesse Hahm (https://jessehahm.github.io/) on projects funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada and the Canadian Foundation for Innovation. Field work is focused on sites in British Columbia and California.
Broad research questions include:
How do bedrock weathering patterns regulate subsurface water storage capacity?
Why do some forests survive drought better than others?
What controls the extent of stream channel networks through time?
Where do different plant communities get water from belowground?
How long does it take rain to transit the subsurface and become streamflow?
Interested applicants should contact Jesse directly before applying (whahm@sfu.ca), and share
i) a cover letter outlining research interests,
ii) a CV,
iii) unofficial transcripts, and
iv) the names and contact information of references.
