Research conducted in two joint undergrad courses at SFU and UBC has been published as an article, "How does the environmental state "see" endangered marine animals?", in Environmental Science and Policy . SFU students Maggy Corrado, Briana Magnuson, Karyn Nelson and Isabella Wang were part of the research team, co-led by Rosemary Collard. The research investigated how Canada's 14 endangered marine vertebrates were considered in 32 federal environmental assessments for major projects with potential impacts to these species. The team found that 31 of the projects were approved, and in these EAs the state sees endangered marine species in simplified and strategically illegible ways. Check out the article for more detail!
