Doctoral Program

The PhD program offers an opportunity to stengthen research and analytical skills, while contributing to a deeper or more nuanced understanding of a specific topic within the discipline. The program requires completion of qualifying exams, submission and defence of a research proposal and completion of a dissertation in addition to any required coursework.

The PhD program prepares students for advanced work in government, research, teaching or industry and provides a foundation for those who wish to carry on within academia.

Admission Requirements:

Applicants normally have an M.A. or M.Sc. in Geography or a related discipline, however it is possible to enter the Ph.D. program without a prior graduate degree. Students admitted to the Ph.D. program without appropriate background may be required to make up specific courses.
