Hybride Mode

SFU offers a hybrid format (online and face-to-face) to make the program more accessible to students outside of Greater Vancouver (and outside of British Columbia).

  • Two face-to-face weekends per semester in Vancouver
  • Online courses (interactive mode, synchronous)
  • Online discussion forums (asynchronous)
  • Intensive session at SFU campus (summer semester) *

* The summer sessions normally coincides with a summer institute for doctoral programs at the Faculty of Education at SFU which includes academic guest speakers. Students can meet colleagues and professors in other doctoral cohorts and have easy access to university resources (library, research support, administrative offices).

At the end of the coursework, students prepare a comprehensive examination, do research work and then defend their thesis.
