Convocation Profile: Fredrick (Levi) Wilson, First Nations Studies

After graduating high school in 2002 and enrolling in university to earn a teaching degree, family issues forced Wilson to drop out just a year into his program.

Yet he never lost sight of his dream.  This month he graduates with a BA in First Nations studies and a minor in history. In January he will finally begin SFU’s Professional Development Program to become a teacher.

During his studies, Wilson was on the board of SFU’s First Nations Student Association, worked to increase Aboriginal awareness on campus, and mentored first-year Aboriginal students. And on Galiano, he founded a hockey program for youth and sat on the board of the Galiano Activity Centre.
