At the #MadeBySFU contest this December, International Studies alum Tate Mason earned himself a runner-up prize of $500 in SFU Spirit Shop orders. Mason’s entry Postureaze is a device that makes good posture simple and easy at any desk surface. Mason conceived of the idea to remedy his own bad posture and slouching at his computer. Bringing his idea to a professional designer, he also ran a Kickstarter campaign from February 2017.

The #MadeBySFU event was a collaboration between the SFU Spirit Shop and SFU’s Coast Capital Savings Venture Connection (SFU’s early stage business incubator). Celebrating product entrepreneurs at SFU, the competition invited applications from across the SFU community including students, alumni, faculty, and staff. They also provide support to aspiring entrepreneurs through drop-in mentoring and a merchandising workshop.
