PUB 900: Self-Directed Publishing Report

Projects may include new media start-ups, self-publishing initiatives, or other significant creative undertakings. 

Description

The scope of the project will be defined in collaboration with the supervisory committee. Following completion of the project, the student must submit a 2000-3000 word report that summarizes and reflects critically on their experience and the work completed. The supervisory committee will assess the student’s report on the basis of quality of work and clarity of communication.

Prerequisite: PUB 600PUB 800PUB 801PUB 802PUB 890, and PUB 891.

Process 

Ensure you have secured a supervisor prior to beginning the proposal process. 

Proposal 

Your proposal should include:

  • An overview of the proposed project
  • A description of planned deliverables/outcomes with a timeline
  • At least six research sources (which may include Google trends, interviews, comparable projects, MPub project reports, etc.), chosen with critical attention to credibility

Your final 2000-3000 word report should include: 

  • A strategic plan or creative process report 
  • Documentation of your vision and/or process in building your project 
  • Prototypes or assets demonstrating the work completed
