PUB 131: Publication Design Technologies

This course provides students with a basic understanding of the principles and elements fundamental to publication design and production in print. The course covers design, typography, and production technologies, with a focus on book design and ephemera (posters/brochures).

Students are introduced to design software applications, focusing on Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign/Illustrator/Photoshop), and will gain a working knowledge of graphic design history, typography, typesetting, layout, and image creation/manipulation.

Knowledge of the Apple operating system is mandatory. It is recommended that students enroll in the Adobe Creative Cloud subscription service (Student rate=$26/month) using their personal computer so they may access the software at home.
