SFU Publishing Director Hannah McGregor's Message

October 25, 2023

SFU Publishing is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Hannah McGregor as its new Director. Dr. McGregor is also an Associate Professor in the program, and is currently teaching a course on publishing in contemporary culture. Her research and teaching focus on the intersection of publishing and social change.

After a year long sabbatical, Associate Professor Hannah McGregor returned to SFU Publishing as the new program Director. While Dr. McGregor was away, she published her first book, A Sentimental Education, and continued her role as co-director of the Amplify Podcast Network, an SSHRC-funded network which aims to encourage collaboration and experimentation via the medium of scholarly podcasting. She is also the co-host of Material Girls, a scholarly podcast about pop culture; Witch, Please, a feminist discussion of the Harry Potter series; and The SpokenWeb Podcast, a collaborative scholarly project exploring audio literary archives.

Director's Message:

I love our Publishing program. We have a passionate and dedicated group of instructors, our faculty are doing cutting-edge and transformative research, and our students are heading out into the world ready to change how publishing works. My goal as Director is to keep fostering this caring, collaborative, and values-driven community while also thinking forward to how we can keep expanding our understanding of what publishing does, and how publishing can be taught.
