When Do I Move-In?


Undergraduate Student: - Wednesday, August 30th from 9:00 am - 9:00 pm.* 

Graduate Student: Please refer to your Residence Contract for your assigned Move-In date and time.*

Office Hours: Weekday (9:30am–4:30pm) Weekend (9:30am–4:00pm)

*On-Call Staff: Will be available if you arrive after hours, but you need to let us know ahead of time.

To check in and get keys for your new home, please let us know approximately when you will be arriving by emailing housing@sfu.ca. When you arrive at the airport or close to arriving at the building, call the on-call phone number 604-657-7856 to reach our on-site team who will meet you in the lobby. There is no buzzer in our building.

What Happens if I Miss the Check-In Deadline?

If you don't move-in by the end of the first day of the SFU term - Tuesday, September 5th -  we will assume you are not arriving and your room will be offered to the next person on the wait list. Your room will be cancelled and you will lose your $700 non-refundable confirmation fee.  Arrivals after the deadline can be approved with prepayment of your Residence fees. Please email housing@sfu.ca to arrange your late arrival.

What Do I Need To Bring to Residence?

Undergraduate Residence Orientation

If this is the first time you’ll be living at SFU Residence you will be automatically signed up for Residence Orientation. Returning residents and Grad residents are more than welcome to sign up for activities and connect with new members of the community.

SHAW Internet

During Move-In, each room will be equipped with a wireless router and modem so you don't have to bring any equipment with you. To access your wifi simply look at the back of your router or modem for the wifi username and password code. During the upcoming Fall term, we will be upgrading every room and building with an upgraded wifi system. See here for more details

Check Your Email for Your Move-In Newsletters!

Your move-in newsletters will start showing up in your email inbox approximately four weeks prior to move-in.  Keep an eye out for this newsletter as it contains important information that will help make your move-in simple and easy.

Read your Contract!

Before checking in, make sure that you have read your Residence Contract and the Residence Handbook.

Parking Info

When you arrive for move-in, please park in the Visitors Parkade. Please do not park in the Residence parking lots - all those spaces are assigned to someone.
