Find your community on campus! Our 9 different residence communities across the Burnaby and Vancouver (grad only) campuses, offers a wide variety of room types, floor plans, learning communities, amenities, and atmospheres. Whether you’re an undergrad, graduate, or eligible for our Family Housing, there’s something for every SFU and FIC student. Regardless of which residence community you live in, you will have an opportunity to make it your own.

Application tips and tricks

  • Don’t wait until you're admitted to SFU before applying to housing. Demand is high so don’t miss out
  • You don't have to be admitted to SFU or FIC to submit an application
  • Offers are made once you are admitted. Spaces are limited so apply early.

Housing Options

There are 3 types of Housing to choose from each with their own set of rules and requirements.

When a vacancy occurs, an offer will be made to the next person on the waitlist whose eligibility matches the size of the available unit according to these guidelines.

Postdoctoral Fellows

A maximum of two (2) x two (2) -bedroom units in Graduate and Family Housing may be assigned to Postdoctoral Fellows.

Application Process

  • Postdoctoral fellows (PDF) should connect with the VPRI office or designate form the Postdoctoral Association who will be collecting interest and determining priority/wait list.
  • Postdoctoral Association will submit to Residence and Housing an eligible postdoctoral fellow for placement
  • Residence and Housing will communicate with the postdoctoral fellow to submit a housing application through the Housing portal: MyPlace@SFU.ca
  • Postdoctoral fellows should submit application and indicate POSTDOC in lieu of student number

Offer for Housing

  • If an offer can be made, an application fee will be added to the housing application if not already paid
  • The Postdoctoral fellow will accept the Residence Contract and Handbook
  • A nonrefundable confirmation fee is required to accept the offer 
  • All offers have a contract end date of June 30 and all residents may renew their housing for the following contract period by the deadline as outlined in the contract
