Types of Personal Information (PI) in the PIB

Types of personal information may include but are not limited to name, address, telephone number, disability, student number and other personal identification number, medical and psychological history, educational history, financial history, criminal history, employment history, third party opinions about the individual, individual’s own views or opinions.

Individuals included in the PIB

Faculty, students, staff and parties external to the university community but who are in conflict with SFU.

Purposes for which PI collected, used and disclosed

Personal information is collected, used, and disclosed in support and/or defense of the University when legal matters are dealt with or submitted to a court of law or an administrative tribunal.

Individuals using personal information or to whom it is disclosed

Staff within the Office of the Vice-President, Legal Affairs, staff of external law firms representing the University, and opposing counsel.
