  • As CERi began its implementation phase in 2020, we have undergone extraordinary growth and change. We built-out an exceptional staff team and launched community-engaged research funding for faculty and students, a graduate fellowship program and a researcher-in-residence program. Despite the challenges of COVID-19, we have been able to keep to CERi’s development plan, including charting new projects to launch in 2021.

    Shawn Smith, RADIUS co-founder and director, Dara Kelly, Indigenous Business assistant professor, CERi co-directors, Stuart R. Poyntz and Am Johal and Stephen Dooley, SFU Surrey campus executive director, co-author an article for the Stanford Social Innovation Review. The article, titled Whose Knowledge Is It?, explores the ways in which SFU aims to raise the profile of community-engaged research (CER) within the university and beyond.
