Three faculty members from SFU’s Department of Psychology recently received major awards from their peers.

Assistant Professor Dr. Jodi Viljoen received the Saleem Shah Early Career Research Excellence Award from the American Psychology-Law Society at its annual conference earlier this month.

SFU Professor and Director of the Mental Health Law and Policy Institute, Dr. Ron Roesch, was recently awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for Contributions to Forensic Psychology from the European Association of Psychology and Law. This is the first time that a non-European was given the award.

In August, Dr. Kathleen Slaney will receive the Sigmund Koch Award for Early Career Contribution to Psychology from Division 24 (Theory & Philosophy) of the American Psychological Association. The award is presented to an excellent young psychologist each year who is normally within ten years of the Ph.D. degree and has made promising contributions to theoretical or philosophical psychology.
