SFU English Professor Emeritus Wins Govenor General's Award for Non-Fiction
Sandra Djwa laughs easily and frequently as she sits in her West Vancouver kitchen reminiscing over coffee about her longtime friend, acclaimed poet and painter Patricia Kathleen "P. K." Page.
It was in this kitchen, says the SFU English professor emerita, while baking Christmas cookies in December 1996, that she got a phone call from Canada’s literary grand dame asking Djwa to write her life story.
That call began a 16-year odyssey that culminated in Journey with No Maps: A Life of P.K. Page, the biography that earned Djwa a 2013 Governor General’s Literary Award for non-fiction.
