Governor General’s Gold Medal: Dr. Amelie Pedneault, PhD, Criminology

Governor General’s Gold Medals are awarded to the two SFU graduate students who achieve the highest academic standing upon graduation from a master’s or doctoral degree program.

Congratulations to our Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences graduate convocation medal award winners! The Medals recognize graduating students whose cumulative grade-point averages place them in the top five per cent of their class.

 

Dylan Gatner (MA in Psychology) is being awarded the Dean’s Convocation Medal for his Master’s work in Psychology. In his Master’s thesis, Dylan studied how we define and measure psychopathic personality disorder.

Dr. Sarah Nickel (PhD in History) is Tk'emlupsemc (Kamloops Secwepemc). For her doctoral dissertation she used oral history and archival sources to examine the history of the Union of BC Indian Chiefs.

Dr. Efe Peker (PhD in Sociology) completed his PhD jointly in Sociology at SFU and in History at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. He is only the second student to complete a cotutelle, or joint double degree program, at Simon Fraser University.
